Safe Home Program
We want kids to know where they can go in case of an emergency, whether they are near their home and no one is there, or just not close enough to their home when something is wrong.
Children will look for this specific sign and know they can get help there. The signs are only given to homes that have been inspected and every adult in that house has passed a background check done by the Steger Police Dept.
If a child ends up at a safe home, the person will call the Childs parents/guardians and inform them of the situation or police if needed. No one will transport your child anywhere, he/she can wait for you to pick them up, or have a police officer escort them home for safety.
