Several Reports of Theft from a Motor Vehicle
We have been asked by the Steger Police Dept. to let even one know that there was several reports of theft from a motor vehicle last night( its not burglary because the cars were left unlocked).
Please remember that even if your car is in your driveway to make its locked at all times.
Also don’t leave valuables in your vehicle, please take inside; purses, wallets. phones, iPods, dvd players, laptops, gps, and so on.

Woman Sexual Assaulted _
June 4, 2011
On 06/01/2011 at around 8:30 pm,
an adult female was approached by an adult male near the south baseball field behind Coumbia Central Middle School. The male grabbed the female and sexually assaulted her. The victim first saw the male on the southside of the baseball field near the treeline. The victim describe...d the male as follows:
*Caucasian
*40-45 years old
*Roughly 6' tall, Slim build
*Dirty, greasy, dark blond/light brown hair, shaggy length
*Scruffy beard
*Pierced lower lip with a small silver spike
*Wearing white t-shirt and camo pants

Spray Paint
Wednesday, March 9th, 2011
A citizen reported to me that the citizen saw a group of kids (about 12)
dressed very similar carrying cans of spray paint. They saw them by Chicago
Road and 34th Street heading west on the south side of the street. Although
this does not necessarily mean anything and the citizen did not see any
illegal activity, we have had houses spray painted recently so it would be
helpful if everyone in the Neighborhood Watch Program could keep an eye open
and be a little more alert tonight and to call police right away if they see
any suspicious activity. The non-emergency number for the Police Department
is (708) 754-8121. The emergency number is 911.

Local children report suspicious acting males.
Thursday, January 15th 2010, 5:30pm
In the area immediately surrounding Columbia Central.
Two adults in an suv were observed by local children acting suspiciously. The men were watching the kids sledding behind the school.
The Children, observing the odd behavior, began to leave the premises. At this time, the vehicle followed the kids and told them to get into the car. The kids then ran to a nearby house for safety.
The Steger Police have been contacted and are investigating this situation.
Two adults, driver being described only as a white male, passenger possibly a black male.
The vehicle has been described as a white SUV(possibly a Ford Explorer).

On Barbara Lane
An adult black male in a parked car spoke out to 2 female Parkview students and instructed them to come over to his car.
When they ignored him, he proceeded to follow them in his car, and continued to talk to them. They continued to ignore him at which time he opened his car door and revealed that he was not wearing pants.
The girls immediately ran to the home of a friend, whose parents drove the girls to school.
A police report was immediately filed, and patrol officers searched the area but did not find a car matching the description given.
The police department stated that they will add additional patrols in the mornings and after school to protect students walking to and from school.
Suspect DescriptionBlack adult Male wearing red shirt and blue billed cap. The vehicle was described as a gray shiny colored car with 4 doors.

Armed Robbery/Homicide

Occurred at local beauty shop 'Hair Trends', located at 3121 Chicago Road Steger, Illinois 60475
Suspects: Two described as follows:
Both suspects were armed with handguns. #1 armed with a small dark colored revolver.
Possible offending vehicle is a dark colored minivan with circular shaped taillights and a loud muffler/exhaust system.
Taken: USC from business and a Sprint cell phone black in color from the deceased victim.
Victim: Daniel Moreno Male Hispanic 23 years old son of owner.

Peeping Tom / Sexual Assault

The 3500 Block of John Street
Report of a possible sexual assault.
Suspect described as adult white, tanned male. Tall, being between 6' and 6'05". Medium build. Shoulder length dark colored hair, which curled up at the ends. The suspect has a tattoo on his arm (could be left or right) of leaves with a heart above them.
Officers spoke to a Mother who reported her 7 year old daughter was possibly sexually assaulted. The Mother told the Officers she heard a strange scream from her daughter's room and went to see what it was. The Mother opened the girl's bedroom door and saw a tall, shirt less, white male standing in the daughter's open window, with his hands inside. The unidentified male had removed the bedroom window's screen and had been reaching inside the bedroom. The girl’s underwear had been ripped. The Mother screamed and the male shut the window and fled on foot. The Mother did not see the males face due to the window blocking it.
While checking the area for possible witnesses several neighbors advised they saw a suspicious male earlier that night, prior to the incident, several times. One neighbor advised the male had a "Dutch-Boy" style haircut. The male was seen running by several residents. The neighbors described the male as running "funny" with his head up, and kicking his knees up high.
